Georgia Reaches NCAA National Semifinals

Final Season Release
Georgia concluded the season with a record of 23-5, the SEC Tournament Championship and final national ranking of fifth. It marked Georgia's fourth straight finish in the top five national rankings and ninth overall in the Jeff Wallace era.
Georgia's run for back-to-back national titles came up short as the No. 6 Vanderbilt Commodores upset Georgia 4-2 in the NCAA semifinals at the Lincoln Tennis Center in Stone Mountain. Georgia's road to the semifinals began in Athens with first and second round 4-0 shutouts over Coastal Carolina and Mississippi State. From there it was on to the finals site in Stone Mountain where the Lady Bulldogs rolled in the round of 16 and quarterfinals with a 5-0 shutout of #18 Baylor and a 4-0 shutout of #10 Southern Cal, respectively. In the semifinals, #6 Vanderbilt defeated Georgia for the second time this season. The Commodores fell to top-ranked Stanford 4-0 in the finals.
NET NOTES
For the fourth time in school history and third straight year, Georgia tied a school record with four Lady Bulldogs earning All-America honors (Lori Grey, Anne Ngyen, Aarthi Venkatesan and Mariel Verban). Venkatesan ends her career as a five-time All-American.
