The Gym Dogs open up their 2002 campaign this Sunday (Jan. 6) when they entertain the Nebraska Cornhuskers at 2:30 p.m. at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens.

This week's meet marks the first time since 1995 that the Gym Dogs and Huskers have met during the regular season, which was also the last time the Huskers were in Athens for a meet. In that contest, the Gym Dogs, who lead the all-time series with Nebraska 16-0, came out on top, in a meet which also featured UCLA, California, Penn State and UMass.

Promotion The first 1,000 fans attending this Sunday's meet will receive a free foam dog bone, courtesy of the Athens-Banner Herald. In addition fans attending the meet will receive a free 2002 Gym Dog calendar.

The Gym Dogs are 13-4-1 in season openers under head coach Suzanne Yoculan. The Gym Dogs have won 13 of their last 15 openers.
