ATHENS, Ga. -- With SEC and possibly NCAA tournament seeding on the line, the Georgia soccer team upset 17th-ranked Tennessee 2-1 in front of a Georgia Soccer Stadium crowd of 1,245 Friday night.

The win secured the third seed in the SEC tournament for Georgia and dropped the Lady Vols to the fourth seed. Had Tennessee won, they would have landed the number one seed and grabbed a share of the SEC East title. Florida now claims the title and the number one seed. Georgia will face the sixth seed in the conference tournament, likely Vanderbilt.

Georgia broke open the scoring in the 22nd minute as junior Beth Culver netted her third goal of the season, unassisted. Sophomore Ashley King crossed in a corner kick that was slapped by Tennessee goalkeeper Cori Stevens. The ball was touched by players from both teams before Culver got her foot on it and took the shot.
