FURMAN GAME A SPECIAL OCCASION FOR MILITARY, EMERGENCY PERSONNEL

ATHENS ---- Georgia's 2001-02 basketball regular-season opener Friday at home against Furman will officially be Military and Emergency Personnel Appreciation Night.
Several hundred local military and emergency representatives will attend the game, including members of the following groups:
> UGA Air Force and Army ROTC
> United States Navy Supply Corps School
> U.S. Marine Corps
> Georgia Army National Guard
> Athens-Clarke County Police
> Athens-Clarke County Fire Department
Each of these groups will have one member represent them in a pre-game ceremony in which each will be recognized for their service. Each group will also be presented with a basketball signed by the 2001-02 Georgia team.
In addition, the color guard will be jointly presented by members of the UGA Air Force and Army ROTC, U.S. Navy Supply Corps School and the U.S. Marine Corps.
Georgia's Letterman of the Game recognition will also feature a military theme. The Bulldogs will welcome back Waymond Henry, UGA letterman from 1964-66. Henry served 26 years in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a Colonel, having fought in the Vietnam and Persian Gulf Wars, as well as the campaign in Grenada.
The Bulldogs and Furman tip off the season Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
