Yoculan Roast Raises $25K
It was an evening of great food and big laughs at the Suzanne Yoculan Celebrity Roast, which took place Nov. 7 at the Classic Center in Athens.
The Celebrity Roast raised more than $25,000 which went toward the Athens Chapter of Special Olympics, The Clarke County Mentor Program and the Athens West Rotary Foundation. The panel of roasters included Georgia gymnastics assistant coaches Jay Clark and Doug McAvinn, local philanthropist Kirk Smith, Chairman of Georgia Crown Distributing Don Leebern, UGA Associate Athletic Director Freddy Jones, Georgia swimming coach Jack Bauerle, former Georgia gymnast and commentator for Fox Sports South, Lori Strong Ballard, and Florida gymnastics coach Judi Markell. Allen Tibbetts, who is co-host of "The Breakfast Club" heard mornings on Northeast Georgia's Magic 102, served as the Master of Ceremonies.
"It was a wonderful evening," said Yoculan. "Luckily they went easy on me. I'm very happy we were able to do this for several worthwhile causes."

Suzanne Yoculan was roasted, November 7, 2001 at the Classic Center in Athens.
Roasters included Florida Gymnastics Head Coach, Judy Markell, Don Leebern and UGA Swimming Head Coach Jack Bauerle, Gym Coaches Doug McAvinn and Jay Clark, alumnae Lori Strong Ballard, UGA Ticket Manager, Freddy Jones and past Ten-O Club President Kirk Smith. Proceeds will benefit The Clarke County Mentor Program and Special Olympics of Athens.
* A silent auction featured a trip for two to the Super 6 Challenge in Florida on the team plane, one week of Gym Dog summer camp, babysitting from a gymdog, dinner with the team, and many other trips, door prizes and items.
