ATHENS, Ga. -- The Georgia soccer team, tied for 25th in the October 16 Soccer Buzz poll, opens up its 2001 SEC home schedule this weekend as the Bulldogs host South Carolina Friday at 7:00 p.m. and No. 8 Florida Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in key conference and regional match-ups.

After going 3-1 on the road to open up SEC play, Georgia (8-3-1 overall) is currently tied with Tennessee for second in the SEC East standings behind Florida. The Bulldogs rank sixth in the NSCAA Southeast regional rankings behind third-ranked Florida and ahead of 10th-ranked South Carolina.

South Carolina, sixth in the SEC East standings, comes to Athens with a 6-4-3 overall record and 1-3-1 conference mark. Georgia leads the all-time series versus South Carolina 3-2-1. The Bulldogs won 3-0 over the Gamecocks last season in Columbia.

Florida (10-2-1, 5-0-0 SEC) enters the weekend on a 50 game conference win streak, the longest current streak in the nation. UF's last SEC loss came on Sept. 14, 1997 to Vanderbilt (2-0). The Gators are ranked eighth in the latest NSCAA poll, ninth in Soccer Buzz and Soccer Times and sixth in Soccer America. The Gators face No. 23 Tennessee Friday night in Knoxville before heading to Athens Sunday.
