Ralston, Catanzaro To Compete In U.S. Amateur

ATHENS, Ga. --- Two members of the Georgia men's golf team will be competing this week in the United States Amateur Championship.
 
Rising sophomore Spencer Ralston and incoming freshman John Hilliard Catanzaro advanced from sectional qualifying events for the U.S. Amateur, which will be held Monday through Sunday at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

Catanzaro will tee off Monday at 10:31 a.m., followed by Ralston at 5:10 p.m. On Tuesday. Ralston will start at 11:55 a.m. and Catanzaro is slated for 3:36 p.m. Live scoring can be found here.

Ralston, a native of Gainesville, fired a 6-under 134 – including an opening-round 7-under 63 – to place third in the qualifier at Capital City Club's Crabapple Course. Ralston qualified for the 2016 U.S. Amateur as well.
 
Catanzaro, who hails from Gadsden, Ala., placed second in the qualifier at Decatur (Ala.) Country Club with a score of 2-under 140. There was a three-for-two playoff, where Catanzaro birdied the first hole to secure his spot.
 
The Bulldogs will open the 2017-18 season in The Carmel Cup in Pebble Beach, Calif., Sept. 1-3.
